The symbol of the mermaid is as changeable as the sea itself. For some, the mermaid signifies life and fertility with the ocean, whereas for others, she embodies the destructive nature of the water luring sailors to their deaths. Which one is correct?
The mermaids’ conflicting personalities are both beautiful and monstrous and she has been used in storytelling through the ages including the Disney representation based on the popular tale created by Hans Christian Andersen.
